Canadian Cedar
Siberian Larch
Siberian Larch timber cladding is a popular choice among architects and builders, due to its numerous benefits. Siberian Larch is a slow-grown softwood species, which is sourced from the Lake Baykal region of Siberia. It has a consistent creamy yellow-brown colour, with a tight, straight grain that provides an elegant and refined look to any building it is used on.
European Redwood
European Redwood, also known as Pinus Sylvestris, is a popular softwood species grown in Scandinavia that is widely used in timber cladding. The Micronised Treatment process enhances the durability and appearance of this timber, making it an attractive and affordable alternative to Canadian Cedar and Siberian Larch for external timber cladding.
UK Homegrown Western Red Cedar
UK homegrown Western Red Cedar is a fast-growing timber species that has gained popularity as a sustainable alternative to imported Western Red Cedar. The UK-grown variety has a unique character, with regular, sometimes large knots up to 50mm, and a slightly fluffy texture around the knots when machined. Although it is the same species as imported Western Red Cedar, the UK-grown variety has different properties and requires careful selection and treatment when used for external cladding.
Thermally Modified Radiata Pine
The ABODO Vulcan products are made from thermally modified FSC certified New Zealand Radiata Pine. The thermal modification process dramatically increases the durability and stability of wood and results in a beautiful rich brown colour, effectively creating a new sustainable, environmentally friendly timber species.
Thermal modification is achieved by using steam and high temperatures in excess of 200 degrees Celsius. Abodo’s unique thermal process uses higher temperatures than typically used to achieve superior durability and stability
Red Grandis
Red Grandis timber cladding is a popular choice for architects and builders alike. It is a hardwood timber sourced from Uruguay, specifically from the Eucalyptus family. The trees are fast-growing and harvested at around 20 years old when they reach a diameter of approximately 60cm. The forests in Uruguay are well-managed and regularly pruned to ensure there are minimal knots, resulting in straight-grained timber.
Waney Edge Larch Cladding
Waney Edge Larch Cladding is a traditional and rustic style of timber cladding. Each board is cut straight from a log and features one natural waney edge with the bark on and one square edge. This style of cladding is ideal for creating a natural and rustic look on any building
Thermowood Cladding
Thermowood cladding is a fantastic material for external timber cladding that provides many benefits to its users. It is produced by heat treating selected Scandinavian Redwood in a unique continuous kilning process that involves heating the timber to 212 Celsius while protecting it with steam. This thermal process enhances the chemical and physical properties of the timber, providing many benefits to users.
Douglas Fir
Douglas Fir is a popular softwood timber, grown in Western North America. The wood has a rich coloration, with the heartwood generally a dark tan red and the sapwood a lighter tan. The Sound Tight Knot grade of Douglas Fir has small tight live and frequent knots and is similar in appearance to sawfalling Siberian Larch. Over time, when exposed to UV, it will acquire an attractive silver-grey color. Douglas Fir is known for its strength and workability and is one of the most useful and frequently used timbers worldwide.
